One beautiful part of being a photographer is the amazing stories of friendships and love that I witness and become apart of. Two years ago, I was lucky enough to share in Kim and Rob’s Wedding at Noosa Beach, on the Sunshine Coast. Here they are pictured below on their wedding day (so cute!).
I love that since their wedding we have remained in contact, meeting up for breakfasts and email chats. It was a pleasure to catch up with Kim and Rob for an anniversary photo-shoot. It reminded me (and I remember thinking this when I first interviewed them prior to their wedding) how they really are best friends, their laughter and their support for one another is infectious.
I also asked Kim & Rob about their experience of marriage, their answers are below. x
Your fondest memory from your wedding day?
Kim – hearing a ‘love letter’ written by Rob that was included in our ceremony wording.
Rob – watching my wife to be coming through the trees to our ceremony at the beach.
How has life/your relationship evolved since your wedding?
Kim – our bond and commitment is stronger and feels even more deeply entrenched in my heart.
Rob – the journey taken is now shared and each little destination along the way has a whole new meaning.
What is your key to a happy marriage?
K – appreciating each other and always considering the other person first. Also working ‘together’ at things whether it be mundane tasks or long term goals.
Rob – communication and tell your wife you love her every day
How do you keep things romantic?
Kim – Romantic texts/notes. Enjoying quality time together and making those moments special.
Rob – flowers and date night.
Any tips for surviving an argument?
K – Don’t make it personal. Keep an objective perspective on the issue you are “disagreeing” about and compromise when needed.
Rob – Agree to disagree sometimes. It’s not about winning or being right.
What is the best advice you could give to couples getting married or planning their wedding?
Kim – Have the wedding you really want not the one you are expected to have.
– Prioritise the things that are most important to you (as it’s unlikely you will be able to have it all unless you have an unlimited budget).
Rob – Planning – the little things do count. I wanted to save money on some decorations for the ceremony. After agreeing with my wife (of course), we kept them and they completed one of the best photos of our ceremony.
The Wedding – Take time out on the day just to be with your new wife. The day will be hectic and the leading up to it too. So take 15 minutes, go for a walk just the two of you and savour the moment.
I’m not sure who laughed the most this afternoon but these kids are magic … x x
